About

14708014_1122507381174724_5779446357981439688_oNexUs Culture Nepal is collaborative artivism (art + activism). It’s creative, healing and inspiring and aims to exhilarate the mind and soul. NexUs is the brain child of a successful Nepalese artivist community organisation: LASANAA. It means art in Newari, the indigenous language group of Kathmandu. LASANAA has successfully driven art projects since 2007, bringing Nepali artists, art and the community together to explore ideas, promote art and artivism, and collaboration. Check out what we do here: www.lasanaa.wordpress.com

NexUs is based in central Kathmandu, an easy access point for people across the city. A three-story building that will include a cafe, artists residency rooms and studio, an event terrace and garden. All the materials used are being recycled and upcycled.

After the setup/startup period, NexUs will become a self-funding social enterprise via the book / art cafe, the sale of artworks contributed by members, the organic farmers market and the artist in residence program. It is a space that is so desperately needed in Kathmandu. Up until this point the community have not had a central space to gather to creatively and critically think, collaborate, create meaning and heal.

We have both short and longer term aims. NexUs will run art talks, healing workshops, book talks, gallery, artists residency program and an organic farmers market. Our longer term goals are to run creative art camps for disadvantaged children, expand our artists residency program to an artists village and studio spaces, and have an online alternative learning institute.

We have vision and passion. We want to share this with Kathmandu, Nepal and the world.

I am very interested in applying for an Artist residency and would like to know when the next intake is for Artists on the Residency. What may be of interest to you and the community is that I am a qualified Art Therapist. Having just finished my studies this year. My intention is to integrate this work into my schedule and offer workshops to people wanting to discover more about themselves through art processes that access the unconscious.

I new to Kathmandu, entertaining the idea of becoming a long term resident. Previously from the US. This transition was not an easy choice but one of necessity to keep my family together. So, while I am here I am seeing the lack of resources for many areas of personal self help… I am willing to volunteer in some capacity so that I can help the area as well as find purpose in this change. I’m here for a reason, I just haven’t figured out yet what the reason is 😉

I’m truly enjoying the design and layout of your website. It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a designer to create your theme? Excellent work!
